The National Archives

We are open to the public as follows: 10am – 5pm Monday to Friday
Lunchtime closure: 1pm – 2pm except on Mondays
Closure notice for Christmas and New Year: The Reading Room will be open until 12.30pm on Tuesday 24 December and will then close until Wednesday 1 January 2025 inclusive
We will re-open after the holidays on Thursday 2 January at 10am

 

 

Reading Room

In order to consult records, it is necessary to hold a valid Reader’s Ticket

Due to ongoing technical issues our online Reader’s Ticket application system is currently not available. If you would like to request a Reader’s Ticket online please email [email protected] with the details below. Please note that tickets can only be issued in person on the day of your visit to the National Archives  and you will have to provide photographic proof of identity and proof of address.

Name, Address, Email, Telephone/Mobile Number, Previous ticket number if held
